Poly/Tandon's Connection with Industry Leaders

This exhibit aims to explore the historical connections between the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now NYU Tandon School of Engineering) and various industries. The objective is to understand how these partnerships influenced the institute's curriculum, provided practical training opportunities, and enhanced career prospects for its students. By examining the relationships with key sectors such as defense, aerospace, electronics, telecommunications, chemical, and urban infrastructure, this study seeks to highlight the critical role that industry connections played in shaping educational outcomes and facilitating early career success for graduates.

The motivation behind this research is twofold. First, it seeks to document and analyze an important aspect of the educational history of one of America's oldest engineering schools, contributing to the broader academic discourse on the interplay between education and industry. Second, by understanding how these historical industry relationships were managed and their impact on student success, the study aims to provide valuable insights that could inform current and future educational practices and partnerships. Ultimately, this research aims to illustrate the enduring value of industry-academia collaborations and their significant role in developing the workforce.
