NYU Tandon Math Department Merged Annoucement

On the NYU Tandon website, it was announced in April, 2017 that the mathematics faculty at the Tandon School of Engineering will be merged into the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. The Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences is the mathematics research school for New York University and was founded in 1935. With this merger in departments, the Courant math department is now responsible for mathematics classes across the University.

As a result of this two undergraduate degrees now offers students: a BA in Mathematics for students in the College of Arts and Science and a BS in Mathematics for students in the Tandon School of Engineering. "The coursework for the BS degree will cover a wide breadth of mathematics topics and will require students to specify a component in one field of engineering...Students enrolling in the Engineering Mathematics undergraduate and graduate programs will continue to be Tandon students and receive degrees that will be conferred by Tandon."

Ari Ginsberg - Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management

With the merger, Tandon's Technology Management and Innovation department is now affiliated with the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business. NYU Stern is the business school of New York University. With this new affilation, Tandon students have access to faculty from both Tandon and Stern.

For example, "Ari Ginsberg is professor of entrepreneurship and management at NYU's Stern School of Business, and former Chair of the Management and Organizations Department and Director of the Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He holds an Affiliate Professor appointment in the Technology Innovation and Management Department at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, where he previously served as Academic Director of the Management of Technology Master of Science Program."
