Conclusion
The evolution of Polytechnic's website could be summarized from several perspectives.
From a temporal perspective, the majority of major updates occurred around December or January, which is the end or beginning of the year. Out of the nine significant updates mentioned in the layout section, 3 of them took place during this period. Additionally, updates frequently coincided with the start of the new semester as well: 4 major updates falling within this range. One exception is the update from 2004.6.9, which sits in the middle of the summer break, but it has its own reason behind it: the update was for celebrating Polytechnic's 150th anniversary.
Furthermore, there is an obvious trend in Polytechnic's effort to align with contemporary aesthetics and technological advancements in each iteration of the website. From a technological perspective, nearly every update introduced new technologies that were popular at the time, and enhanced the efficiency and capabilities of the website's development. Besides, the website's layout evolved progressively towards modern aesthetics and reflected the broader trends in web design.
For page architecture, it is surprising to note that many core features of the website were implemented relatively early on. By the early 2000s, essential features such as online course feedback surveys, the library page, and the registrar page were already present on the website, effectively managing various school-related tasks. In just a few years, additional main features like the career center and student account system were also integrated into the system, further enhancing the website's utility as a comprehensive resource for students' in-school life.
From these perspectives, we can see that the evolution of Polytechnic's website reflects not only the institution's effort to always staying at the forefront of technology and design but also its dedication to providing a comprehensive and user-centric online experience for its community.
